forms of love

sorry for the longer-than-expected gap between updates to the site! work’s been keeping me busy, and last week was especially hectic. i did find some time to make a new little intro for the show, though. hope you like it :)

this one starts out loose, with the first couple of tracks moving through ambient and free jazz territory before settling into hazier, dubbier rhythms with Infant’s “Star,” from a July release on Kino Disk. i’ve been digging through the label’s catalogue lately and finding so much to love. expect to hear more from these artists in future mixes!

there’s more dubbed-out bliss later on from Satoshi Tomiie, along with Eden Aurelius & Pontiac Streator’s “Ion,” taken from Entre Nous. that release has become a 2026 favourite for me.

it feels good to be back with these monthly mixes! i’ve added my instagram link to the website, so give me a follow for updates on the show and my other comings and goings.

bye for now, and enjoy the tunes ♡

this one’s a little late because i was in vancouver for the week, visiting family, enjoying the beautiful weather and hitting some of my favourite spots around the city. i also stopped by audiopile, one of my favourite record shops, and came home with a few gems. big shout out to them!

while i’m here, a small update on forms of love. the show is going monthly from now on. it feels like the right pace and gives me more time to listen, dig through new releases and find the stuff i really want to play.

i’m taking august off, then i’ll be back in september. i’ll still be keeping up with everything coming out and saving the tracks that get me excited.

until then, hope you enjoy this one!

a few standouts from this mix include a track from one of my favourite artists, Greg Foat, whose latest album Blobs blends woodwinds and synths into a warm, lovely mix of ambient jazz and library music. this episode also features Toronto-based artist Masahiro Takahashi, whose music i’ve featured on the show more than a handful of times by now.

Anthony Calonico’s Spacious Heart, out on Music From Memory, is a recent find for me, and the track “Whispers” is right up my alley with its blend of ambient, spiritual jazz, and minimalism. Laurence Pike’s “Mid Journey” and Memotone’s “Warm Shadow” explore similar fourth world and jazz-inspired territory, with Memotone also appearing on Yu Su’s “Sunless,” from her latest release, Foundry, another album that’s been getting plenty of airtime on the show.

another favourite comes from Mood Hut, a Canadian label i always come back to. Peach’s Soak Vol. 1 delivers the hazy blend of dub, ambient, and downtempo i’ve come to expect from the label.

also, if you’re after something super fresh (and haven’t heard it already), Four Tet returned with his super mysterious “Wingdings” project last week! finally, the closer from Jonny Nash & Tomo Katsurada’s At The Emerald Pool is probably my favourite track on this episode. “Someday We’ll All Fall Down” is an absolute gem, with a hazy mix of dreamy, fuzzy country and ambient.

until next week, take care and happy listening. ♡

i’ve always enjoyed featuring canadian artists on the show, and this episode is no exception. expect plenty of organic textures, dubbed-out atmospheres, hypnotic rhythms, and a few detours into reggae, post-punk, and more experimental fare.

it opens with a new release from toronto’s Spiritual World imprint. a departure from the label’s usual hazy, dubby output, Ashleigh Ball—best known as the singer and flutist of toronto trip-hop trio TEAL—turns inward on a solo flute record recorded at the dominion astrophysical observatory on vancouver island, recalling the new age explorations of Paul Horn.

another recent favourite is the collaboration between Mas Aya and fellow torontonian Khôra. if you’re into hypnotic percussion, flutes, electronics, and psychedelic textures, this one’s well worth your time.

also featured is a new release from toronto’s Local Dish label, one of my go-to imprints over the past year for its eclectic catalog of analog recordings showcasing local artists. included in the mix is toronto reggae pioneer R. Zee Jackson’s reggae reinterpretation of Bobby Caldwell’s “what you won’t do for love.” you’ll also hear a track from fellow toronto artist King Pong Dub System.

later on, the mix drifts into the dubbed-out post-punk of montreal duo CUERPOS, whose records I’ve really been digging lately.

i hope you enjoy it!

i’ve been meaning to make a proper home for forms of love for a while now, so i’m really glad i finally got around to it. the idea is pretty simple: somewhere you can come back to old episodes whenever you feel like it, whether you missed one live or just want to hear a mix again.

if you have any thoughts about the show or the site, i’d love to hear them. feel free to send me an email with feedback, suggestions, music recommendations, or even just to say hi.

anyway, grab a snack, pour yourself something nice, and enjoy. lots of hazy jazz and ambient on this one. ♡
